To keep safe during this period , we need to wash our hands and use hand sanitiser regularly – This is crucial during these troubling times. The downside is that our poor hands are becoming red, sore and cracked! .

In the Allumi kitchen I have put together a very basic hand salve using some basic kitchen cupboard ingredients I am sure you will already have, these being Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Honey.

Firstly Coconut butter  – this is the solid form of coconut oil that many of us cook with or use in smoothies.

Coconut oil is used in many natural skin products : it’s naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and moisturising. Coconut oil is composed primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in Lauric acid. It also contains vitamin E and healthy fats, which help the skin by  replacing lost moisture. our skin dried out due to the use of alcohol based cleansing products.

Olive oil is a staple kitchen ingredient rich in vitamins to support skin health. Olive oil acts as an antioxidant, which is a substance that prevents oxidation. … When applied to the skin, antioxidants may prevent premature ageing, and therefore keeps our hands looking youthful.

Finally Honey    A great antiseptic and healing ingredient. It is naturally anti-bactericidal, it’s extremely moisturising and soothing, so it really helps to repair dry and damaged skin.

To make my Allumi Honey Hand Salve Recipe Hand softener

You Will Need

  • 1 cup of coconut butter
  • 1 dessert spoon of olive oil
  • 1 tsp honey

Mix together and when slightly fluid place in the fridge  for a couple of hours.  Once the oil is solid you need to whisk with a hand blender or whisk and then immediately scoop into a clean container with a lid.

Use as a nourishing treat for dry hands, or as a hydrating lip balm.

Keep refrigerated between use.

Always patch test before use and avoid if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

We would love for you to email us some before and after photos of your home blending and your super smooth hands after using this salve.

Enjoy and keep safe!
